Pastor Duane Crane

opbc@minister.com

Pastor Crane was raised in a Christian home. His family attended Mt Calvary Baptist Church of Garland, TX (no longer in existence after merging with another church). At the age of 11, he trusted the Lord as his personal savior. By age 13, he answered the call of God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After graduating from Garland High School, he attended Arlington Baptist College for one semester. After attending Richland Community College for the next semester.

He enlisted in the Unites States Air Force, where he proudly served the Lord and his country for four years. Pastor Crane has served in his local church in teaching SS, youth ministry, music ministry and preaching. While serving in the USAF, he met and married Brenda Hill.

The Lord has blessed them with three children, Aaron, Chad and Erika. Chad and Erika now have their own families. Pastor and Brenda’s oldest son, Aaron, passed away in Oct 2016 from seizures caused by an auto accident in March 2000.

When pastor completed his military service, he and his family moved back to TX where they began serving in Victory Baptist Church in Rowlett, TX. By 1983, the Lord lead Pastor Crane and his family to Bible Baptist Church in Andrews, TX as pastor (1983-1985). Later, to Friendship Baptist Church in Boyd, TX (1985-1986). Then Calvary Baptist Church in Mesquite, TX (1986-1993). He was also worked in Information Technologies from 1989-2001.

He then answered the call to pastor Bethel Baptist Church (now Rockwall Baptist Church) in Rockwall, TX (1997-2018). He and his wife sold their home in Texas and moved to Middleton, TN in March 2018 to answer the call of Trinity Independent Baptist Church through May 2022. He then ministered mostly to churches that were without a pastor in KY, MS, AL, TN and TX until he accepted the call to pastor Old Path Baptist Church in Dec. 2023.

Jeremiah 6:16

What We Believe

The following paragraphs summarize what we believe as a church family. We believe the Bible and teach it to be absolutely true and perfect. Every belief, teaching, and practice of Old Path Baptist Church comes from God’s Word.

What We Believe

I. THE SCRIPTURES:

We Believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Old and New Testaments, and the God’s Word is true without any mixture of error. We believe the Bible to be the true center of Christian unity, and the final authority in faith and life. The King James Version is the official and only bible used in the ministries of Bethel Baptist Church (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; Psa. 12:5-7: Prov. 30:5,6)

II. THE GODHEAD:

We Believe that there is only one true God, eternally existing in Three Persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Duet. 6:4; Matt. 28:19, 2 Cor. 13:14).

III. JESUS CHRIST:

We Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, is true God and true man (Jn. 1:2, 14; Lk 1:35). Jesus died on Calvary as a vicarious substitute. He was buried, rose again bodily, and ascended to the Father according to the Scriptures (1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11).

IV. HOLY SPIRIT:

We Believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, coexistent with the Father and the Son. He is the chief agent in the conviction of sin, in regeneration, and the comfort of the believer. The Holy Spirit baptizes the believer into the Body of Christ, permanently indwells him, and seals him in salvation for all eternity (Jn 16:7-11; Titus 3:5, Rom. 8:1-14).

V. MAN:

We Believe that man is the direct creation of God, and created in His image with a body, soul, and spirit. Adam, the first man, sinned by disobedience. This act resulted in the fall of mankind, and incurred both physical and spiritual death for all. We believe that all men have sinned, and are therefore guilty before God, and under His righteous condemnation (Rom. 3:23; 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3).

VI. SALVATION: We Believe that all who, in faith, repent of sin and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior are born again by the Holy Spirit and thus become the children of God. Salvation is a gift of God, apart from works, and based solely upon the finished work of Jesus Christ. (Eph. 2:8-9; Jn. 1:12).

VII. ETERNAL SECURITY:

We Believe that salvation is not only a gift of God, but that it is also sustained by the power of His Spirit in the believer. Therefore, since salvation is wholly of the Lord, we hold that the believer shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation (Jn. 3:16; 10:28,29).

VIII. SECOND COMING & FUTURE EVENTS:

We Believe in the literal, personal, pre-millennial, pre-tribulation return of Jesus Christ for His Church. At this event, the dead in Christ and living believers will be translated to meet Him in the air. At the end of the seven year tribulation, Christ will visibly descend with the saints to establish His earthly millennial kingdom. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in glory, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost in hell (Rev. 1:7; 1 Thess. 4:15-17; Rev. 19:22).

IX. THE CHURCH:

We Believe in the one true church, the body and bride of the Lord Jesus Christ, made up of believers indwell by the Holy Spirit. The New Testament local church is a body of baptized believers with Christ as its Head, organized for worship, fellowship, and Christian subject to denominations, fellowships, or creeds (acts 2:41-47; 1 Cor. 11:2; 12:11, 12; Eph. 1:22, 23; 4:11-16). We Believe that the two church ordinances are:
    1. Baptism for believers only, by immersion, in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost (Matt. 28:19,20; Acts 1:5; 2:41).
    2. The Lord’s Supper, commemorating our Lord’s death on the Cross. The elements of bread and fruit of the vine are symbolic of His broken Body and shed Blood, but contain no saving or redemptive merit (Matt. 26:21-30; 1 Cor. 11:17-34).

X. BIBLICAL SEPARATION:

We Believe all the saved are caleld into a life of separation from all worldly and sinful practices and alliances. This would include personal, marital, and ecclesiastical separation, and entanglement with moral or doctrinal impurity (2 Cor. 6:14-18 7:1; 2 Tim. 3:1-5). We stand opposed to modernism, liberalism, and ecumenical movements, and could not fellowship with groups that interfere with local church autonomy (Eph. 4:3, 11; 2 Tim. 3:5). We are non-Charismatic in belief and practice (1 Tim. 4:1,2; 1 Cor. 12:28-31; 13:8-10).

XI. WORLD MISSIONS:

We Believe the local church has been commanded, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Through Faith Promise Missions, we purpose to pray for, send, and financially support missionaries of like faith in every continent and country in the world (Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:18; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 8:9).
